Project:
Faith is often spoken about in prayer, but rarely lived the way Sikander Singh lives it. At Guru Bharosa Sewa Sansthan, devotion doesn’t lie in rituals – it lies in seva. Sikander Singh, the founder, sees divinity where most people look away. “Mandir, masjid aur gurdwara apni jagah hain, par mere liye mere ashram ke log hi bhagwan hain,” he says. For him, caring for the abandoned is not charity – it is a responsibility given by God.
The people who come here are not just homeless – they are lost in ways most of us cannot imagine. Many suffer from severe depression, trauma, or mental distress. They walk away from their homes, and slowly, the world forgets them. There comes a time when even their own families stop looking. Some don’t remember their names, their past, or where they belong.
And yet, they are expected to survive on the streets. This is where Guru Bharosa Sewa Sansthan becomes their turning point. For decades, Sikander Singh ji and his team have been bringing these individuals in, giving them shelter, care, and above all – a sense of belonging. He believes his work is guided by faith itself. “Bhagwan ne mujhe yeh shareer diya hai, main bas seva karke use wapas kar raha hoon,” he says. His happiness doesn’t come from recognition, but from the rare moments when someone is healed enough to find their way back home.
But behind this unwavering commitment is a struggle that grows heavier each day. The ashram runs with extremely limited resources. There are no proper facilities to support the increasing number of residents. In the peak of harsh summers, frequent power cuts make life unbearable – and there is no generator to rely on. Food, medicines, and basic care are always uncertain. This is not just a shelter – it is the only place these people have.
And right now, it is struggling to sustain itself. They don’t need luxuries – they need essentials. A steady supply of ration. Medicines for those in pain. Electricity to survive the heat. A safer, more stable space to live with dignity.
Your support can directly change their everyday reality. Stand with Guru Bharosa Sewa Sansthan. Because sometimes, helping those who have been forgotten is the purest way to be remembered.
