As the temperature plummets to a bone-chilling -10°C, stray dogs in Kashmir face a harrowing battle for survival. With heavy snowfall blanketing the region and humans abandoning the hill areas of Dudhpatri, Gulmarg, and Pahalgam, the dogs are left without food or shelter. Their lives are at risk as the unforgiving winter rages on.
The Kashmir Animal Welfare Foundation (KAWF) has emerged as a beacon of hope for these voiceless souls. For the past four years, KAWF has been tirelessly working to ensure the welfare of stray dogs in the region. This winter, under the leadership of Aasma and Nigadh, the foundation has taken extraordinary measures to provide relief. The volunteers are braving knee-deep snow and freezing temperatures to deliver food and warmth to over 300 stray dogs.
To combat the bitter cold, KAWF has distributed 300+ winter jackets to keep the dogs warm and has procured hundreds of pedigree dog food bags. However, the need far exceeds the current resources. The situation is especially dire in remote hill areas where no alternative feeding options exist. Despite the challenges, KAWF volunteers continue their relentless efforts, ensuring that these innocent creatures are not left to perish in the harsh winter.
KAWF’s mission is powered by compassion, but the resources needed to sustain it require the support of generous donors. The foundation urgently appeals for donations to provide more waterproof jackets and pedigree food bags for these vulnerable dogs. Every contribution can make a life-saving difference, offering warmth, nourishment, and hope to animals who have no one else to rely on.
By supporting KAWF, you are not just donating to a cause; you are becoming a part of a lifeline for hundreds of stray dogs enduring the worst winter conditions. Let’s come together and ensure that these loyal companions are not left out in the cold. Donate now and help KAWF save lives this winter.
