Project:
On the sacred day of Nag Panchami, homes across India echo with chants and prayers. People line up to offer milk, haldi, and flowers to serpent idols, symbols of protection, power, and Lord Shiva’s eternal grace. The same serpent who fearlessly wraps himself around the throat of the Mahadev, not as a threat, but as a companion.
But as the rituals end… so does the reverence.

The next day, when a real snake comes into someone’s house, farm, or garden, the panic strikes. Stones are thrown. Sticks are raised. Poison is spread. The same people who bowed before a snake’s image… now kill it without blinking.
Why? Because what we worship is the idea of the serpent. What we kill is its reality.
But there is one man who refuses to look away. In a world where snakes are feared and hated, Shyam sees them as frightened souls needing help. Wounded. Burnt. Beaten. Starving.

While others scream or flee, Shyam quietly bends down, picks up the injured serpent, and takes it home. No lab, no hospital, no funding, just love, old medicine boxes, and deep compassion.
He says: “Sab pooja karte hain… par koi unki zindagi ke baare mein nahi sochta. Main sochta hoon. Aur jab tak main hoon, sochta rahunga.”
(“Everyone worships them… but no one thinks about their lives. I do. And I will, as long as I live.”)

Over the years, Shyam has saved hundreds of snakes, some poisoned, some paralyzed, some just newborns left to die.
But today, he’s running out of space, money, and time.He has no proper facility, no financial support, and no land where he can create a safe shelter.
Still, he keeps going. But he knows… he can’t go on like this forever. He says:
“If this continues… future generations will only read about snakes in mythology. They will vanish from our forests. From our planet. And Lord Shiva’s adornment will remain only a memory.”

Donors, this nag panchami, let’s change the story. Let’s make worship more than ritual.
Let’s turn faith into action, and prayer into protection.
Lord Shiva chose the serpent as his closest companion. Will you choose to protect it? In a world quick to kill what it doesn’t understand, Shyam has chosen to heal. This Nag Panchami, let us choose the same. Let us serve Lord Shiva’s sacred companion. Donate now. Help build India’s first serpent rescue centre of hope, healing, and compassion.
