Project:
Asha Jyoti Handicapped Welfare Society is not just an institution it is a home built from the courage, compassion, and motherhood of one woman: Madhavi Lata. Her journey began in 2012, when she came across a heartbreaking incident that changed her life forever. Two young mentally disabled girls were abused by their stepfather and thrown out of their house in the most merciless way. When Madhavi heard about their suffering, she could not turn away. She opened the doors of her own home and took the girls in, giving them safety, food, and the love they had been denied.
What began as an act of kindness soon transformed into a lifelong mission. That day, Madhavi decided that no mentally disabled child should ever have to face abuse, abandonment, or fear again. She founded Asha Jyoti Handicapped Welfare Society, and over the years, she has rescued 70 mentally disabled children, each one carrying a painful past, but now living with dignity under her care.
To these children, Madhavi is not just a caretaker—she is a mother. She feeds them with her own hands, takes them to hospitals, ensures their hygiene, and stays awake through nights when they suffer from seizures, panic, or pain. Asha Jyoti is more than a shelter it is a family where every child receives food, a home, medical care, emotional support, and the unconditional love they deserve.
But running a home for 70 mentally disabled children is not easy. Each child has special needs special food, special medicines, adult diapers, and regular medical checkups. Their treatment and diet plans are expensive, and managing everything single-handedly has become Madhavi’s biggest challenge. Despite her dedication, she is struggling to afford the rising cost of medicines and food. Many of the children have long-term conditions that require continuous care, and stopping even a single treatment can put their lives at risk.
Today, Madhavi stands before you with folded hands, requesting support not for herself, but for the 70 innocent children who completely depend on her. These kids cannot express their pain, cannot fight for their rights, and cannot survive without proper care. Madhavi has given them a home, a family, and hope, but she cannot continue this mission alone.
If support doesn’t come in time, she may be forced to stop taking care of these children something that would break her heart and leave these kids nowhere to go.
