“I feel like I should fight and live for them.” These are the trembling words of 26-year-old Meemkali, a mother of three little children, two sons aged 7 and 6, and a 2-year-old daughter who still needs her mother’s arms to feel safe.
Even through unbearable pain, Meemkali’s biggest fear is not her illness. It is her children. Every time the pain in her throat worsens, every time she struggles to swallow even a sip of water, her heart breaks at the thought of what will happen to her children if something happens to her. She cries not just because of her suffering, but because the thought of leaving her little ones behind terrifies her.
For the past one year, Meemkali has been fighting a painful throat tumor that has slowly turned her life into endless suffering.
She lives in Gorakhpur, Madhya Pradesh, with her husband Keshu and their three young children. Keshu works as a farmer and also takes up daily wage labor whenever he can, somehow earning only ₹4,500–₹5,000 a month to feed the family. Six months ago, there was hope when Meemkali was admitted to a hospital for treatment. But hope, too, comes at a price.
With no money left, the family had no choice but to bring her back home before the treatment could be completed. Since then, her condition has worsened with every passing day. Today, the pain has taken over her life. She cannot sit properly. She cannot speak clearly. She cannot even eat without pain.
Her entire body aches constantly, and swelling in her legs makes even small movements difficult. Speaking even a few words leaves her in tears. During a recent call, she could not stop crying because the pain had become too much to bear. Still, her husband has done everything he can.
Despite their poverty, Keshu has already spent ₹70,000 on her treatment, exhausting everything they had. But nothing has been enough to bring her relief.
Now doctors at Suretech Hospital have given the family one urgent chance to save her life. The treatment will cost ₹10–12 lakh – an amount completely impossible for a farmer and daily wage laborer to arrange.
For her children, Meemkali is not just their mother. She is their whole world. Her 2-year-old daughter still reaches out for her, unaware that her mother is silently fighting for every breath. Her sons are too young to understand why their mother cries in pain.
Meemkali does not want to give up. She wants to live, heal and stay with her children and watch them grow.
Today, she needs your help to keep fighting. Please donate and help this young mother survive for her three little children.
