Where Your Money Goes ?
Project:
Shantabai Balu Pawar, an 88-year-old woman, has become a symbol of unwavering dedication on the streets of Pune. With the weight of her age pressing upon her, she refuses to give in to the challenges life throws her way. Instead, she continues to perform martial arts and stick arts on busy roads, not for personal gain, but to raise money for the 20 orphaned children she cares for. Her goal is not only to provide them with food and education but also to secure a safe home for them—a place where they can grow without the constant fear of returning to the streets.
Shantabai comes from a poor family, and she understands the harsh reality of life for those who are abandoned. She has taken these 20 orphans under her wing, dedicating her life to ensuring that they have a better future, one far removed from the path of begging and street survival. For these children, Shantabai is their protector, provider, and guardian. Without her, they would have no one to care for them.
Despite her advanced age, Shantabai works tirelessly. Every day, she performs her martial arts and stick arts on the streets, drawing the attention of passersby who are moved by her strength and determination. What they witness is not just a performance but a plea for help. Shantabai is fighting for the survival and future of the orphaned children in her care.
Her greatest worry now is the uncertainty of what will happen to these children if she is no longer around. At 88, she knows that her time is limited, and this weighs heavily on her heart. She fears that without a proper orphanage or safe home, the children will be forced back onto the streets, left to beg for survival as she once had to do. This fear drives her even harder, pushing her to work despite her age and physical limitations.
Shantabai dreams of building a permanent home for these children—a place where they can live safely, receive proper education, and grow up without the fear of homelessness or hunger. But constructing such a home requires more than her daily earnings from the streets. It requires the support of kind-hearted people who are willing to invest in the future of these children.
With folded hands, Shantabai humbly requests help from anyone willing to lend their support. She is asking for donations to construct an orphanage, a place these children can call home. Shantabai’s concern is not just for the present but for the future, ensuring that even after she is gone, these orphans will have a safe and secure place to live.
Supporting Shantabai’s mission is not just about giving money; it’s about offering hope. It’s about ensuring that these 20 children, who have already faced abandonment, do not have to endure the same fate again. Your support can help Shantabai build a brighter, safer future for them, one where they can grow up with dignity and opportunity instead of hardship and despair.
