Project:
Every winter, I watch my dogs struggle, and my heart breaks all over again. I have so many rescues now, and each one has a story of pain I can’t forget. Some were hit by vehicles, some abandoned, some left to die in the freezing streets of Leh. I have dogs who cannot even walk, their legs broken, paralyzed, or twisted. Some cry in pain because they can’t move, and I can’t carry all of them at once. It’s a constant, heavy weight on my heart.
These animals have seen cruelty that no one should ever see. Some were beaten, some left to starve, and some were just thrown out like trash. And then winter comes. The cold here is merciless.
The snow covers the roads and the food stops. The streets where they once scavenged are empty. I see them shivering, lying on the cold ground, their fragile bodies slowly giving in. Some try to walk and just collapse. Others huddle together in the snow, trying to stay warm.
I run this shelter with a small team and big hearts, but our resources are limited. Feeding dozens of dogs every day, giving them medicines, bandages, and care costs more than we can manage. During winter, everything doubles, food, medicines, even blankets and insulation for our shelters. We are struggling to keep up, and I can’t bear the thought of any of them suffering because we don’t have enough.
I see the fear in their eyes every day. The ones who can barely move, the ones with broken spines, the ones who were hit and left to die, they all need warmth, food, and care. And the cold doesn’t wait. Every night, I pray none of them freeze, none of them starve, none of them give up. But I can’t do it alone.
We need help. Every bit counts, for food, medicines, warm bedding, or even simple things like blankets and safe shelter. Your donation can keep a dog alive through this harsh winter. It can give a paralyzed dog warmth under its body, food to keep it alive, medicine to fight pain, and hope that someone still cares.
Please, help us. These animals cannot ask for help. They cannot cry out in a world that’s often cruel to them. But together, we can make a difference. Even one small act of kindness can mean life for a dog shivering in the snow tonight. I promise, every rupee will go straight to saving lives, straight to keeping them safe this winter.
Because if we don’t act, the cold and cruelty will take them, and I refuse to watch that happen.
