Dev Bhoomi Samiti, based in Dehradun, is a dedicated organization working for the welfare of elderly individuals suffering from leprosy. These individuals, all advanced in age, have been tragically abandoned by their children and families, left to fend for themselves in the twilight of their lives. Despite the stigma surrounding leprosy, the government provided these elderly people with a basic shelter in Dehradun. However, their support ended there, and the provision of essential resources such as food and medicine was overlooked. This is where the remarkable work of Pravesh Uniyal comes in.
Pravesh Uniyal, driven by a deep sense of compassion, took it upon himself to care for these elderly people who had been forgotten by society. His journey of service began four years ago when the leprosy-affected population in the community stood at 45. Today, it has grown into a full-fledged colony of 190 elderly individuals, all relying on him for their daily sustenance and medical needs.
Pravesh works tirelessly to ensure that these elderly people, who are often shunned by society due to the stigma surrounding leprosy, receive the care and attention they deserve. To them, he is not just a caregiver but a son, someone who understands their pain, struggles, and the emotional trauma of being abandoned by their loved ones. Every day, he provides them with meals, essential medicines, and other necessary items, ensuring their dignity is maintained.
Over the years, as the number of elderly people suffering from leprosy in this community has increased, so have the challenges Pravesh faces. The growing population, coupled with rising costs of food and medical supplies, has made it increasingly difficult for him to continue providing the same level of care. The constant influx of new residents every month has stretched his resources thin, leaving him struggling to meet the needs of everyone in the colony.
Despite these challenges, Pravesh continues to serve these elderly individuals with unwavering dedication. However, the financial burden is becoming too great for him to bear alone. He urgently needs support to ensure that the elderly leprosy-affected people under his care can continue to receive proper medical attention, nutritious meals, and essential items that contribute to their well-being.
Dev Bhoomi Samiti, through Pravesh’s leadership, has become a lifeline for these elderly people, but it cannot survive without external support. The organization is now appealing to kind-hearted individuals and donors to come forward and contribute to this noble cause. Your donation, no matter how small, can make a significant difference in the lives of these elderly people who have no one else to turn to.
By donating to Dev Bhoomi Samiti, you can help Pravesh continue his mission of caring for the abandoned elderly suffering from leprosy. Together, we can provide them with the medical facilities, nutritious food, and comfort they so desperately need, restoring hope and dignity to their lives.
