Project:
The sky broke open without warning. In the quiet place in Jammu & Kashmir, dark clouds poured down in a way no one had ever seen before.
Within minutes, the peaceful mountains turned into roaring rivers of mud and rocks. Homes disappeared. Families were torn apart. People ran, screamed, and prayed but the water was faster.
The powerful flash floods destroyed everything in their way, a community kitchen feeding pilgrims, a security post, parked cars, and whole streets. People who had come here with hope and faith were suddenly running for their lives. At least 56 people are confirmed dead, more than 100 are badly injured, and hundreds are still missing. Many of them are children.

The sight is heartbreaking. Parents carry the lifeless bodies of their little ones, wrapped in wet blankets. Mothers sit in the mud, staring into the distance, unable to speak. The air is filled with cries names being called out, prayers whispered, and sobs that will haunt anyone who hears them. Rescue workers, soldiers, and volunteers dig through the mud with their bare hands, desperate to find anyone still alive.
The flood left nothing behind. Homes that once held laughter are now piles of broken wood and stone. Pilgrims’ paths are covered in sludge. The holy chants that used to fill these mountains are gone, replaced by silence and grief.

Roads are destroyed, making rescue even harder. Rain still falls, and with every drop, the fear grows. Some families have no idea where their loved ones are, while others have already faced the worst.
Across Jammu & Kashmir, celebrations and festivals have stopped. There are no fireworks, no songs, only prayers for the missing and the dead. This is not just a disaster in numbers; it is a wound in the hearts of thousands.

And yet, in the middle of the pain, there is courage. True Hope Foundation running and rescuing strangers as they hold each other.
