“Please Save Our Only Child… We Have No One Else”

This was supposed to be the happiest time of their lives.

Payal and Rajpal had waited so long to hold their baby in their arms. But when she arrived, she arrived too early, too small, too fragile, their dreams turned into silent prayers and sleepless nights.

She was born in the 7th month. Her lungs weren’t ready. Her body couldn’t fight. She came into the world gasping for breath and now, she’s fighting just to stay alive! 

A dangerously fast heartbeat. A severe infection that’s spreading quickly. Her tiny body is covered in wires, monitors, tubes… but she’s still trying. She hasn’t given up.

And neither have her parents.

Payal cries and says:

“Main maa hoon… main usse sirf ek baar apni baahon mein lena chahti hoon… bina machine ke. Sirf ek baar uska saans lena dekhna chahti hoon… bina dard ke.”

(“I’m a mother… I just want to hold her once in my arms… without machines. I just want to see her breathe once… without pain.”)

Rajpal sobs and says in guilt: 

 “Main kachra uthata hoon… kahan se laaoon 7 lakh? Mere paas kuch nahi hai… bas meri beti hai. Usse kuch ho gaya toh… hum bacha bhi nahi payenge apne aapko.”

(“I collect garbage… where will I bring 7 lakh from? I have nothing… just my daughter. If something happens to her… we won’t survive either.”)

Rajpal goes out every day, lifting trash bins and sorting waste just to earn a few rupees. Payal sits by her baby’s side at the hospital, praying with every breath. They have no relatives to turn to. No savings. Just hope.

But hope isn’t enough anymore.

The doctors say the baby can survive but only if she gets urgent treatment. The cost is ₹7 lakhs!  A number so big for them, it might as well be a mountain.
