Pramod’s Situation Is Heartwrenching But Not Hopeless

Imagine a life where you are battling a life-threatening disease, and the only person who gave you strength, care, and the will to survive is suddenly taken away from you.

This is the cruel fate of Pramod.

Pramod lost his wife on 7 January 2026. She was not just his partner in life, she was his caregiver, his emotional anchor, and his reason to keep fighting. In the middle of pain, illness, and uncertainty, they leaned on each other. They understood each other’s suffering without words. She stayed by his side through every difficult moment, feeding him, comforting him, and reminding him that he was not alone.

Today, Pramod often asks for his wife without realizing she is gone. When consciousness returns, memories return with it. He spends his days and nights staring at her photograph on his phone, admiring her face, reliving moments of love, and silently calling out to her. Every time he wakes up, his heart searches for her presence only to be met with unbearable emptiness.

Pramod is suffering from oral cancer, a disease that has progressed to a stage where he can no longer eat or drink on his own. Simple acts like swallowing water or taking food have become painful and impossible without help. Before cancer entered his life, Pramod worked as a driver, earning a modest living through honest labor. Fate struck again when he met with a serious accident that fractured his hip, leaving him bedridden for months.

Just as he began to recover from the accident, cancer took over his life.

To survive, Pramod spent everything he had on treatment. He sold his household belongings, exhausted his savings, and used every possible resource. Today, he has nothing left- no money, no strength, and no family to care for him. From arranging food and water to reaching hospitals, every basic need has become a struggle.

Doctors have advised a treatment that costs several lakhs, an amount impossible for Pramod to arrange. He is a daily wage laborer, with no steady income and no support system. The only person helping him now is a kind neighbor who himself is a laborer with a family to feed. He supports Pramod purely out of humanity and compassion, because Pramod has always been known as a gentle and kind man.

Let us all realise that Pramod’s situation is heartbreaking, but it is not hopeless.
