Project:
In the heart of Mathura, where the mystique of Lord Krishna’s birthplace lingers in the air, there exists a lesser-known yet profoundly impactful organization: Maa Yashoda Anath Nandi Seva Samiti. This Samiti has dedicated itself to the welfare and protection of over 300 Nandi bulls who struggle to survive on the streets, facing numerous hardships, including maggot wounds, accidents, and the vagaries of nature. Their tireless efforts embody the spirit of compassion and service, offering solace and care to these gentle creatures, often neglected by society.
Nandi bulls, revered as the divine mount of Lord Shiva in Hindu mythology, are an integral part of the cultural fabric of Mathura. However, many of them find themselves abandoned, injured, or homeless, left to fend for themselves amidst the bustling streets and busy intersections. It is in this challenging environment that the Maa Yashoda Anath Nandi Seva Samiti operates, providing a beacon of hope for these vulnerable beings.
One of the most pressing issues faced by the Samiti is the prevalence of maggot wounds among the Nandi bulls. These wounds, often a result of neglect or mistreatment, can lead to severe infections and excruciating pain if left untreated. The Samiti’s dedicated team of volunteers works tirelessly to provide medical care and attention to these wounded animals, offering them a chance at recovery and a life free from suffering.
In addition to addressing immediate medical needs, the Samiti also focuses on long-term solutions to ensure the well-being of the Nandi bulls. This includes initiatives such as providing shelter, food, and water, as well as implementing measures to prevent accidents and injuries on the streets. However, their efforts have faced significant challenges, particularly in the aftermath of natural disasters.
In January, tragedy struck when the Nandishala, the shelter provided by the Samiti for the Nandi bulls, was flooded due to heavy rains. Despite the adversity, the Samiti’s volunteers sprang into action, risking their own safety to rescue and protect the vulnerable animals. Thanks to their heroic efforts, nearly 90% of the Nandi bulls were saved from harm. However, the Nandishala itself suffered extensive damage, leaving the remaining bulls at risk and without proper shelter.
Now, more than ever, the Maa Yashoda Anath Nandi Seva Samiti urgently requires support from the community to rebuild the Nandishala and ensure the safety and well-being of the Nandi bulls. With your generous donations, they can restore the shelter to its former condition, providing a safe and secure environment for these gentle creatures to thrive.
Every contribution, no matter how small, makes a difference in the lives of these animals who have known only hardship and neglect. Your support will not only help rebuild the Nandishala but also sustain the ongoing efforts of the Samiti to care for the Nandi bulls and advocate for their welfare in the community.
As we reflect on the teachings of compassion and kindness espoused by Lord Krishna himself, let us come together to extend a helping hand to those who cannot speak for themselves. Your donation to the Maa Yashoda Anath Nandi Seva Samiti is not just a gift of material support but a symbol of hope and humanity, ensuring that the sacred bond between man and animal remains unbroken in the sacred land of Mathura.
