This Hanuman Jayanti Show Support For Electrocuted, Injured, And Blind Little Souls

On Hanuman Jayanti, we visit temples, fold our hands, and worship Lord Hanuman with devotion. But every year, my heart asks one painful question- If we truly worship him, how can we ignore his own swaroop lying injured, helpless, and abandoned on the roadside?

I still cannot forget Bharat. For four long days, he lay on the road after a terrible electrocution accident. By the time we reached him, his body was rotting. His lower jaw was completely gone, and his tiny hands were severely decayed. The pain he must have endured is beyond words. But we refused to give up on him. After one month of constant treatment, surgeries, sleepless nights, and endless care, Bharat is finally safe with us today.

I am Vishakha Chatterjee, founder of Pawsome Foundation, and I have taken a pledge to rescue and protect these innocent souls at any cost. Every time a suffering animal finally feels safe in my arms, it feels as if God is looking at me through their eyes. These animals are not just rescues to me-they are my babies, my strength, and my purpose.

The hardest moments of my life are when an animal dies in my arms. That pain stays with me for months. Some wounds never truly heal. But I gather myself again because there are still so many lives waiting for help, so many eyes silently asking me not to give up.

Every animal in my shelter has seen the worst side of life. Many little monkeys here lost their mothers due to electrocution. Some older monkeys are blind, injured, or permanently disabled. We also shelter aged, sick, handicapped, and abandoned dogs who had nowhere else to go. I have tried to give them everything I can- food, care, warmth, and love.

But the truth is, we still do not have a proper shelter. During the rains, water floods the area and the animals fall sick. In winter, the cold becomes unbearable, and without tin sheds, protecting them becomes nearly impossible. We also lack a proper medical room and are forced to treat and even operate animals under temporary sheds.
