There is a silent prayer rising from Radhe Karunamayi Public Charitable Trust in Vrindavan.

“Bhagwan, please don’t make us wander here and there. I have only one child… and when I call him, he doesn’t pick up.”

These trembling words belong to one of the Matajis who now calls this ashram her home.

For many of these elderly women and widows, life once meant celebrating festivals with their families, cooking for their children, and living in homes filled with love. Today, many of them have no one waiting for them. Some were abandoned. Some were beaten in their old age. Some were left on the streets to survive alone. Their stories were left incomplete.

But inside these walls, something beautiful happens.

Here, they are not a burden. They are not forgotten. They are family.

Founded in 2015, this ashram is now home to nearly 150 Matajis. Shyama Didi, the founder, says, “Why should there be an old age home? Everyone deserves to live with their family.” For her, this is not an institution – it is her home, and these women are her own.

Within these walls, the Matajis find companionship, dignity, and a sense of belonging again. They share meals together, pray together, and support each other like a true family.

But today, the ashram faces its biggest challenge. They are struggling with a shortage of funds for food, medicines, and basic living arrangements. The hands that once cooked for families, raised children, and built homes now depend on your kindness
