Project:
“For most of my life, I was like any other woman, living with dreams, family, and routines. But everything changed the day I lost my elder brother. He was my protector, my guide. His sudden passing shattered me. But what broke me even more was witnessing the cold indifference of society towards those who die alone, the unclaimed, the unnamed.
That was the turning point of my life.

In my brother’s memory, I took a pledge: No soul should leave this world without dignity. Today, I personally perform the last rites (antim sanskar) of unclaimed bodies, those abandoned on the roadside, in morgues, or found in desolation. In the eyes of the world, they are nameless. But to me, they are someone’s father, mother, child and most importantly, someone’s ancestor.
As a woman, doing the last rites, traditionally a male responsibility, has invited resistance, taunts, and even threats. But I continue, because I know what I do carries deep spiritual weight. Every time I light the pyre, I feel my brother’s soul smile in peace.

And now, the sacred season of Pitra Paksh is upon us, a powerful 16-day period starting tomorrow, where the souls of our ancestors descend close to earth, waiting for Pind Daan, Tarpan, and offerings from the living.
This year, after nearly a century, certain astrological events align with the planet Shani (Saturn) in a unique position of karmic balance. This rare cosmic window offers a powerful chance to release ancestral debts (Pitru Rin), seek forgiveness, and invite abundance into our lives.

In this season, when you donate in the name of the departed, it does not just reach your ancestors, but also benefits the unclaimed souls whose rites I perform. The punya (spiritual merit) multiplies. When even one forgotten soul receives peace through your offering, a ripple of blessings flows back into your life.
Many of you face blocked progress, constant failures, or unexplained hardships. Astrologers often say it’s due to Pitru Dosh, unsettled ancestral energies. But when you offer daan (donation) with faith, especially during Pitra Paksh, your karmic burdens lighten. Shani Dev, the lord of justice, smiles upon such selfless acts and eases life’s struggles.

I do this work without expectations. But to continue, I need your support. Each cremation costs money, from wood, clothes, prayer materials, to transportation. Your donation, big or small, helps me carry out these final rites with full dignity and Vedic rituals.

This is my humble request:
As you remember your ancestors this Pitra Paksh, remember those who have no one left to remember them. Help me help them. Let us give peace to the forgotten and healing to the living.
Donate now. For your ancestors. For theirs. For peace.” – Pooja Sharma.
