Project:
Ten years ago, a man named Mr. Dhirendra decided to dedicate his life to those who had been forgotten by their own. He started Sadbhavana Vruddhashram with one simple yet powerful dream, to give abandoned elders a place where they can live with dignity, love, and peace.
It all began when Dhirendra met an old man sitting outside a temple, hungry, weak, and trembling in the cold. When asked about his family, he simply said, “They left me because I had become a burden.” Those words pierced Dhirendra’s heart. That night, he made a promise, no elder should ever feel unwanted or unloved in their final years.
From one small rented room, Sadbhavana Vruddhashram was born. Over the years, it has become home to dozens of elderly men and women who once had nowhere to go. Some were found lying on footpaths, some left outside hospitals, and some brought by kind strangers who couldn’t bear to see their pain. Many of them had lived full lives once, raised children, worked hard, sacrificed everything for their families, only to be forgotten when they needed love the most.
Dhirendra often says, “This is their time to be free. To rest. To laugh. To live without fear. But instead, so many are carrying the burden of loneliness.” He spends his days talking to them, listening to their stories, and assuring them that this home is their family now.
At Sadbhavana Vruddhashram, they celebrate birthdays, festivals, and even small victories, because every smile here is a miracle.
But running a home like this is not easy. Many of the residents suffer from serious health problems, from diabetes and blood pressure to cancer and mental illness. Frequent hospital visits, medical tests, and daily medicines have become a part of life here. Sadly, the costs keep increasing.
Along with medical needs, the ashram also struggles to meet basic necessities, food, clothing, shelter, and hygiene. Even the smallest expense becomes a challenge when there is limited funding. Yet, Dhirendra never loses hope. He believes that kindness always finds a way, that people will come forward when they see the truth of what he is trying to do.
Your support can help them continue this mission. Your contribution can provide food for a hungry elder, medicine for a sick one, and peace for a lonely soul.
At Sadbhavana Vruddhashram, every rupee you give becomes a gift of dignity, a second chance at life, and a moment of happiness for someone who has lost everything.
Let’s come together, not just to give, but to care. Because no one deserves to grow old feeling unloved.
